Continual Professional Development (CPD): This is fundamentally a rundown of what you have done to keep yourself refreshed about your field in the wake of finishing your engineering graduation.

Three Career Episodes (CE): which are three articles that you write to demonstrate your development as an engineer. The articles are 1000-2500 words as the prescribed length, must be composed in the primary individual and may discuss a particular period or distinctive part of your engineering background. All three CE articles must be drawn from various times of engineering work or feature distinctive parts of your experience as an engineer. Keep in mind to utilize Australian English while composing CDR Report.

Summary Statement (SS):On the last page of your CDR, you say how the Career Episodes you have composed identify with the capabilities EA is searching for – and precisely which passage of which Career Episode identify with various competency components in the coveted profile.

Your CV is a full summary of your engineering education and work experience. It should be a chronological listing of your employment and not projects you have worked on. It should be presented in A4 size pages and should not be longer than three pages in any case. For each workplace, mention:

Name and location of the organisation along with its contact details,

Dates and duration of employment,

Your job title,

Your job responsibilities as defined in the appointment letter and a brief description of what you did there.

Your CPD should be mentioned in the list format. It should not be more than one page long (in A4 size).

Career Episodes must be written in English. The recommended length of each narrative should be 1,000 to 2,500 words. It should not be too technical. A career episode must be written in the first person and highlight what you did as an individual in the particular case you set out to narrate.

Number each paragraph of your career episode in the following manner:

Career episode 1 (paragraphs 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc.)

Career episode 2 (paragraphs 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 etc.)

Career episode 3 (paragraphs 3.1, 3.2, 3.3 etc.)

The paragraph numbers will be used for cross-referencing in the Summary statement.

A Career Episode should look like an essay and not a table.

There is only one Summary Statement that covers all the three career episodes.

Academic degree certificate

Complete and official academic transcript

Updated CV or Resume

IELTS or TOEFL iBT result

Name Change documentation (if applicable)

Professional Registration Certificate (if applicable)

Documentary Evidences of Employment for the last one year as well as employment as mentioned in Career Episodes you mention in CDR Report

Your postgraduate study details (even if it is a distance course),

Conferences you attended,

The material you prepared and presented in various courses, conferences, seminars and symposia,

Volunteering or mentoring work you did relate to your engineering profession,

Short-term courses, workshops, seminars, technical meetings and inspections, and discussions you attended, and

Books, journals or manuals you studied to gain more knowledge about the field.

How to Write a Summary Statement?

Remember, the Career Episodes aim to showcase your skills as a Professional Engineer, Engineering Technologist, Engineering Associate, or Engineering Manager. Use correct Australian English. A CDR report is also supposed to show your communication skills to the EA assessor.

One of the key features of an effective CDR is that it keeps off any extraneous details that Engineers Australia doesn’t ask for. For example, EA doesn’t want to know the history of your company, the achievements of your team, or the market size or share of your past employer. It only concerns itself with your role in the company and your personal contribution to your organisation as an engineer.

Be ready to substantiate all your claims with documents and evidence. Show proof of results you claim to achieve.

EA prescribes prescriptive writing style for Career Episodes. These episodes should be written in the first person – in an active voice. It means that you should use words as I researched, I planned, I measured etc.

Engineers Australia asks you to write a Summary Statement where you have to analyse how each paragraph you wrote in your ‘Career Episodes’ relate to the competency elements for the Skilled Migration category you are applying for. It means that you have to remain relevant at all times or you will lose ‘analysis’ points.
